A new report claims that 2015 will be the end of the road for Apple’s colorful handset.

According to an Industrial and Commercial Times report, spotted and translated by MacRumors, the iPhone 5C is going to be phased out over the summer. Currently Apple’s most affordable handset, the iPhone 5C was launched in 2013 as a multi-colored plastic counterpart to the iPhone 5S and has slowly grown in popularity, particularly among younger smartphone owners.
And although it’s still a great handset in terms of speed, display, camera function and 4G/LTE connectivity, it’s lacking in two critical areas: it only has 8GB of space on board for apps, and it doesn’t have a Touch ID fingerprint scanner so it can’t support Apple’s Apple Pay digital wallet.
All of which means that a new, equally colorful iPhone 6C could well be in the 2015 product pipeline.
As well as the entry-level iPhone, next year is also potentially the last that the iPad Mini will see. Industry whispers suggest that the smaller tablet’s days are numbered now that Apple offers a phablet in the shape of the 5.5-inch display iPhone 6 Plus.
